Hi, we are Emese Maczko and Nandor Barta, the founders and recipe creators behind My Pure Plants.
We are so happy you found us. We are a wife and husband raising two beautiful daughters in a picturesque small town called Szentendre in Hungary in the middle of Europe.
In 2018, Emese and Nandor started My Pure Plants from scratch to celebrate the incredible variety of vegan food. Today, we are sharing our knowledge and expertise in vegan recipes. We also love encouraging everyone to try home-cooked meals using locally-sourced, organic, whole foods.
About Nandor
Nandor is a cook and cinematographer behind this blog and co-author of Express Vegan Cookbook. Since he was always interested in cooking, he decided to pursue a career in hospitality. His first-ever job led him to a restaurant in Long Island, New York.
After his first daughter was born, he did a 180-degree turn and started experimenting with vegan recipes. The positive changes he experienced prompted him to start My Pure Plants in 2018. He advocates cooking at home from scratch and limiting processed and artificial food.
About Emese
Emese is a baker and photographer behind this blog and co-author of Express Vegan Cookbook. She is the kind of baker who loves watching how high the dough slowly rises in the oven, or screams when flipping the pancake reveals a perfect golden brown color.
While she learned a lot from her family, she enrolled in several baking courses to perfect her skills. While living abroad, she started her first baking blog after joining a Baking with Julia Child challenge and religiously watching all Cake Boss episodes on TLC.
After her first daughter was born, she deep-dived into vegan desserts and founded My Pure Plants in 2018 with Nandor to share all those vegan sweet treats she loves.
What you’ll find on My Pure Plants
We share simple, tasty, and easy vegan recipes with people of all skill levels, from timid beginners to seasoned home cooks and everyone who wants to try delicious recipes using only plants. Hence, the name pure plants.
After living in various countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Germany, and New Zealand, Emese and Nandor returned to Hungary. It is not surprising that cuisines from around the world inspired the vegan recipes you will find on this website.
If you are new here, we recommend checking out our go-to favorites: our juicy vegan lentil loaf, our vegan butternut squash wellington, and our New York-style baked vegan cheesecake.

Hi, thanks for this. Good looking recipes. Can I ask: are your cups 8fl oz or 10? James

Hi, I use US cup, so 8fl oz.

I love your lentil loaf recipe. Question: are buckwheat seeds the same as buckwheat groats? Thanks!
My Pure Plants
Yes they are, whole grain buckwheat, buckwheat seeds and buckwheat groats are supposed to be the same.
